I installed oracle and I guess it created a database called orcl. How do I add more databases in oracle. In MS SQL I used enterprise manager which gives me a tree view of all databases. How do I do it with the web based admin that comes with oracle? With MS SQL I created a "database" for every web app that I had. Is that how I would be using oracle as well, theoretically?

thanks

Hi,
You don't..What SqlServer calls databases are schemas in Oracle..

Nothing ( or practically nothing) you know abpout SqlServer will be of any help in Oracle and will, most often, cause you to do things wrong..

Go to
and register for Technet( it is free ),then read the Documentation ( especially the Concepts and DBA manuals)..

Oracle is not a system you can really learn by doing...
You can also review the docs and errors at

( Much of Oracle info is version-specific, so, next time, please give the exact version of the database and what OS and Version is it installed on, and what is the Client's OS/Version)

Happy learning..

The Database Creation Assistant is probably the closest you can come to what you are looking for. You can use it to create a new database...
