Hello :)
The following questions are currently involved in a future planning session at a company conference involving the purchase of Microsoft .NET with/without Microsoft Visual Foxpro ... please contribute:

What level of functionality does Microsoft Visual Basic provide for database applications?

Are the databases relational?

Is the MSVB in the latest .NET package desirable for developping database applications?

Why would you use MS Visual Basic to develop database applications instead of MS Visual Foxpro or MS SQL Server ?

Thanks in advance,
Steven Singerman

>>What level of functionality does Microsoft Visual Basic provide for database applications?

That depends on the provider you use, not on VB.

>>Are the databases relational?

You can access any kind of database you've got a provider for.

>>Is the MSVB in the latest .NET package desirable for developping database applications?

Yes, it is as suitable for that as any other language in there.

This is a question that can only come from a Foxpro programmer I guess :)
VB doesn't have an intrinsic database; it's not a language build around a database like Foxpro. SQL server isn't a language in which you can build applications.

You would use SQL server (for instance) as a database and VB (for instance) as the user interface (front end app) and, if necessary, for the business layer.

Greetings,
Rick
