Hello,

I wanted to know if anyone knows how to disable access to the control panel from the explorer bar. For example: When you open internet explorer, if you go to the address bar, you could just type in "Control Panel" and it will take you to it. Is there any way to remove that so that if you type in control panel, it wont take you there. Please let me know.

Thanks,
Eddie

Is it your intention to completely remove access regardless of the user? Or do you only want to protect it from certain users?
Eg: Do you still want access under the Administrator account.
The solution to this will be dependant upon your particular OS.
Looking at your user type, is this a solution that you wish to deploy on several machines or just one?
The quick answer is yes, it is possible, but there are varying degrees of control, and differing approaches depending on the desired outcomes.

Have you looked at disabling access to the Control Panel via Group Policy?

Check Group Policy (GpEdit.msc in Run Box).

Local Computer Policy/ User Configuration/ Administrative Templates/ Control Panel

Well i would like to remove that option completely, even from the admin account. I just dont want for someone to be able to type in "Control Panel" while they are accessing the internet and have explorer take them there. Its a security issue for me. So yes i would want to remove it for all users.

Thanks,
Eddie
