question? Is there a registry hack for storing a wep key for wireless

I am making an image for my laptop users at my company. I will be using sdeploy and then ghosting. When I use sdeploy it erases my wep key. I copied my profile to the default user profile. Wouldn't that keep my wep key? Anyone know of any work arounds?

I would simply create an encrypted file with the information in it and store it on the C drive.

lol I know what a wep key is. See I have made an image. Went ahead and setup the wep key. I ran sysprep. Ghosted it up. But when you run sysprep it earases the key and you have to enter every time. I want to avoid this. Any way to do this?

No there is not.
It is stored as a MD5 encrypted key based on user SID.

You might look to using something other than the native XP Wireless Configuration Service, as some client software stores the WEP key in plaintext.

But for the XP native service, you should utilize the SP2 Wireless Configuration Service for your task.

Give the SP2 Wireless Configuration service a try. You just insert a USB pen drive into the USB port on each computer and you are done. It takes less than a minute.

In the alternative, you can write the configuration information to a floppy and access the information from there.

There should be an icon in My Network Places. Or, Start, All Programs, Accessories, Communications, Wireless Network Setup Wizard.
