Query Log file entries

In my log file I have things like:

At the end of each line is a code:

-E
-ED
-EDC
+
...

Where can I find documentation on what those codes stand for. I think I saw a bind patch code segment that suggests the + and or - are for recursion requested. Any other help would be appreciated. ( x sub for my domain info)
