I have a single table with the following fields:

Drawing Number
Description
Product Name
Project Name
Originator
Origination Date

I want to be able to enter the project name or product name and perform a search on it. It then gives me the relevant drawing numbers and descriptions. By the way, what is the significance of the Primary Key?

I'm completely new to Access, hence my knowledge is very very sketchy.

Thanks in advance

Jeff

Primary Key is considered as Unique Record Identifier can be Autonumber or some text/numeric that gives a distinct identity to the record.
As a beginning point of query..
Just create a select query and in the critria grid(when you are in the design view of the query) of the query just type [Enter Project Name] and run the query; you will be prompted for the project number.

in the second step you can give the project number from a form.. tell us if you need assistance on this.

Thanks Zameer

How do I create a select query?

Jeff

Thanks Jameer,

I've got it now. Thanks for the links.

Can you use wildcards (* ?) in the criteria box?

Jeff

Change it to
Like [Enter Project Name] & "*"

A bonus tip
Like "*" & [Enter Project Name] & "*" to search all that includes the search word.
