Queries, How many filters(?) is to many? 1

I have written the dBase and with dhookom and others I have been able to iron out a lot of problems. Thanks folks. I have a query with four tables working great. The query has 28 fields, I know I am well below the half way point. The problem is when I place "[forms]![frmXYZ]![cboABC]"... 4 times or more into the query's criteria boxes (omiting the "&quotI can not open the query back up after I have ran the beast once or twice. I will rewrite it and give you some SQL on the query. If you need code I can email it to you specific. I think; However, this problem is a generic loose nut behind the wheel, thing. My personnel manager needs to be able to query the dBase on approx 15 fields. When I created the queries before. They work great, efficient, except if you didn't input a date and criteried other data it would be llike you input an "ALL" in the fields.
I thouoght that if I ran it using globals in from a GLOBAL MODULE it would work - to no avail. I am just running to many checks to be able to get back into the query to update or troubleshoot it.
The mechanics of it works. My hat is off to the people of Tek-Tips.
If to many, how does one break it down, smaller numbers.

The number of filters, sub queries, or query nesting that you can do is determined by the number of fields and the how complex the queries in question might be.

Just as a test if there are a series of queries that lead up to this one with the 28 fields. Try having that query create a table then use the created table as the source for your following queries.

Thanks vey much Steve.
The table idea was what I came up wit, but was hesitant, but tried it. worked great and using the idea of temp tables - well, Steve. Dog gone it. makes sense and I can control the queries just as easily as if I had simple queries again. Take my hat off again to you folks.
