I can only say I have had massive problems with QMS/Minolta printers and have found their support to be terrible.
This is not just my experience but the experience of a huge number of people I have been in contact with.. in fact yours is the first good experience of QMS/Minolta machines I have ever heard.
Parts fail, require replacing and none are available for months. In a 12 month period a brand new £5000 colour laser printer was operational for less than 6 months.
QMS refused to replace the machine (which was in warranty) instead electing to repair it. Over time, when nothing was resolved I managed (with much heartache and what must have been 20-30 phone calls and offers to collect the machine myself) to get them to send me a loan machine of a much lower spec. Apparently this was the only machine they had in the entire country (that is what they told me.. utter nonsense. They didn't even have one in their demo suite?!)
When this machine arrived, it had been shipped with the toner cartridges in place and packed so badly it was trashed. I have photographs of it somewhere that I took as evidence.
The situation was so bad that suppliers I have spoken to, who enthusiastically installed QMS equipment would no longer touch them. They were a whole heap of trouble.
In the end the QMS machine got dumped and was replaced with a Canon 1130 and Fiery NX400 RIP (different price range/ball game I know). I was so happy with that machine and the excellent service I recieved that I have just installed another Canon system at my current workplace.
This is based on my experience within the last 3-4 years.
