I am having trouble opening my illustrator 9.0 files in quark 4.0, I am saving them as illustrator eps files. My error message says the document can't be opened by this version of Quark Express (same goes for photoshop). I am also currently on Windows XP, but used Quark in the past on the windows ME version.
