Hello. We just moved to QuarkXpress 6 on Mac and unfortunately one of our printers only has Quark 5. We have tried to save down to 5, but his computer still cannot read the file and we are unable to verify if the computer has successfully saved into 5 format in the first place.

Has anyone had difficulty saving down to 5 and found a work around?

Also, is there a way to tell if a file has actually been saved down into an earlier version?

Thanks. Laura.

hi laura, inorder to save successfully from quark 6 while doing save as donot check the option of "include preview "and then try downsaving it to quark5 .i hope this helps

Hi Laura,

When doing a save as make sure the "version:" 5.0 and is a "type:" is document. To do this highlight the version as 5.0 twice.

Laura:

Note that the Saved As 5.0 file icon will be the V.5 (shadowed) "page layout with red burst" icon, as opposed to a V.6 file's icon, which is a white flower against a pastel blue background.

Then, be careful you open the V.5 file from within the opened V.5 program, in OS9. If not, a Saved As 5.0 file defaults to V. 6.0.

peace

Larry
