Quark 6 sluggish

Hi all! I'm not sure this is a Quark problem... it may be a problem with my computer. But nothing else seems to be running slow, so I thought I'd start with Quark. I'm using Quark 6.1 on my Mac (running OS 10.3.5). Lately it's been really sluggish. When I type text, I type it, then I have to stop and wait maybe 5 or 6 seconds for it to catch up with me. That's just one example. On the whole, it's incredibly slow. I have 768 of RAM, so it should just zip along. Do you know of a way to optimize the program? Are there files that might be slowing me down? I know Quark 6 and Suitecase have problems... I use Suitcase v 10.2. Would that be causing a conflict? Thanks so much!

I posted a similar question a while back with no results. We have a G5 Dual processor, 1.5GB of RAM OS 10.3.5 and Quark 6.1 Even the simplest operation (dragging an empty box across the page) brings up the spinning ball for a second. I have no crashes but it drive me nuts. Quark 5 on a slow G3 runs faster than this "super-computer". We also use Suitcase X1. I'de love to hear any suggestions as well.

I've discovered that Apple's Mail program makes my whole computer lock up for a minute or two after I delete a large email message, usually junk mail. I've had Quark act the way you described, but not in a while so I'm not sure if it was connected to the Mail problem or not.

I have no idea why this might work but it does occasionally - try emptying your trash.

I empty the trash all the time, but I found that I had about 1,000 old messages in my inbox. That must have been the problem because I haven't noticed it being sluggish since I got rid of them.
