i just compared the quality of an report printed with vb+cr and an report exported to pdf and then printed.

1. the pdf printout is about 4% smaller
2. the quality of the pictures is much worse in the pdf
3. when i view the pdf in acrobat, it says some graphics have an hyperlink to <€1> (Euro-Symbol, 1).

does anyone have an idea why this is?

Take a look at:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Seagate Software\Crystal Reports\Export]
"BitMapMagnifNumerator"=dword:00000001
"BitMapMagnifDenominator"=dword:00000001

These define the quality of exported bitmaps. I can't remember all the details, but the ratio is the important bit - try playing with the values. Andrew Baines

There is also a KB article about the font size being smaller:

When I first looked at the KB article they had a fix for it. I downloaded and installed the recommended fix but it made no difference. I guess Crystal realized it didn't work either and has changed the KB article to "No fix available". I just increased the font size in the applicable reports and they print correctly now.
