I have used alot of the Kentrox Q2200 routers with IPO but now I have a 2-site SCN with a point-to-point T-1 that is having QoS issues.

2 - IP500 units with 2 Q2200 T-1 routers.

Monitoring the traffic utilization on the T-1 in the routers, there is very little traffic on any given day - I would say the average bandwidth utilized on the T-1 is less than 40% by the router reports. What doesn't make any sense is the voice will be very choppy during times when there is very little traffic on the T-1. The voice traffic is definetly classified as EF on the routers.

I have switched out one of the routers now and I will be switching out the other router today.

Has anyone had any troubles with similar issues with maybe a VCM or the 500 base unit itself like a LAN interface problem? I have seen in the past issues with one of the LAN interfaces on the 500 units, but when that has happened it was solidly not responding.

IP500 units are running version 5.0.15. All digital and analog extensions at both sites, no IP sets. The IP500 units are directly connected to a VLANed port on the Q2200 routers at each end.

What is system status showing for QOS on the SCN trunks during an active call?

Are the Diff/Serve settings on the IPO matched on the Kentrox?

Obviously you've rebooted everything and your still having the same trouble?

Have you considered upgrading 5.0.18 on both systems?

What codec are you running over the link?

SSA shows good numbers on the VoIP calls that I have watched
at the most 20msec round trip delay - most of the time less than 10msec - 0s on most other stats sometimes 0.1 or 0.3msec jitter

running G.729a - IPO units directly connected to the Q2200 units

Yes, DiffServ settings are the same

I have only had a couple of alarms generated in SSA for QoS which have shown 300msec round trip delay but no packet loss. Again this has only happened a couple of times. Anytime I have watched the system when they complain of issues, all of the stats look really good in SSA.

Have you experienced the voice issue/chop yourself? How many SCN trunks are configured? I have an exact setup as you, however I run with G711 since I only have 4 channels for my SCN trunk between my 2 IP offices.

I have had users complain of voice chopiness, but they were using their speakerphone on a 5610 with the G.729 codec and it was an issue of the user background noise/half duplex speaker phone.
