Putting line numbers on Reports 1

I have several reports that are grouped to 4 levels. I would like to add line numbers for each line of detail within a group. I'm not sure how to do this.

Anyone have an idea how to do this?

This is an idea ?? good or bad

Create a text box on the line you want the number(making sure textbox wizard is off).
In the event control source enter =1 and alter the running sum to over group.
