Pushing data to an internet connected palm

I am looking for a starting point.
I've been tasked with learning how to use push technology to get a message to a palm. I'm in need of a tutorial/website/book that could help me learn how to do this. I have written several socket programs for the desktop and PPC and I've written several palm application.
Any help or direction would be apreciated.
