Purging will delete records from the database. Depending on what parts of Macola are slow to you and what you purge, it could speed certain things up. If it takes forever to run an AR aging report, it's probably because your AR open item table has alot of records. If you run the purge open item process in AR / Processes, it will delete records that are fully paid through a certain cutoff date. The aging report will then run faster.
You can download documentation on the various purge functions and what tables they purge from on Exacts customer portal. Some of that may also have been answered on a previous thread.
If you are running Macola on Pervasive SQL and want to recover some of the disk space of the tables you are purging, you will have to rebuild the table through System Manager, Processes, Rebuild Accounting / Distribution / Manufacturing menu's.
