Pull records except those containing a specific value

Hi all - I'm very new to Business Objects so I will probably be asking a whole lot of questions in the near future.

I have a report I'm trying to create and one field I pulled displays several different alphanumeric codes, called "event code". I have a field called "contract#" and I want to pull all the contract#'s where they do not include a specific event code in their list.

Example:
Contract# 1234 has event codes 15, 48, 59 and 23.
Contract# 5678 has event codes 16, 48, 56 and 21.
I do not want records with event code 23, so the query should only pull contract# 5678, and not 1234.

In the query panel, just create a condition whereby

Event Code NE '23'

But then that would still pull all event codes for contract#s with event #23, and I don't want those records at all. If the event code exists for a contract#, then that contract# should not be pulled.

You'd have to use a subquery to do this.
