I have created a brochure in Publisher 98 and forwarded to the reciever but they don't have Publisher and can't open it. They suggested sending it as Adobe or Word doc but I don't have these options in "Save As". What do I do and how do I protect my formatting from changing in the process? Does this mean I cannot forward it as a Publisher doc to a commercial printer either?

Pru,
Publisher is not widely recognized as a "professional" level page layout application. You're often going to run into the issue of service bureaus not accepting Pub docs. Microsoft has done a half-way job of gearing Publisher toward the pro/semi-pro user while it's really a consumer level product. Meanwhile Adobe and Quark are going head-to-head with their products which also include InDesign.

If you have PageMaker 7 on your C drive, you can convert your Pub doc to PM by going to: C:\Program Files\Adobe\PageMaker 7.0\Converter for MSP_QXP
In that directory, you will find instructions on how to convert from Pub to PM. Sorry, you're going to have to re-work your doc in PM when it gets there so it looks correct for your client.

Have you tried to convert your Pub doc to PDF? Regardless of your page layout program, PDF is becoming almost universal in service bureaus. You need Adobe Distiller and Adobe Acrobat to properly make PDF's (although, if you search the Acrobat Thread or Google, you can find some inexpensive alternatives to Acrobat), but by going this route, it doesn't matter what program you use to create your page. One great benefit is, you send the same file to your client or your service provider and they see it exactly the way you want them to see it. PDF is really the best way to go!

Knock and the door shall be opened unto you. Seek and ye shall find! [peace]
