I've created a calendar in publisher and then used Acrobat Distiller to create a PDF file. The pdf file prints fine when I print it from my desktop but soon as I upload the same file to my website for customers to open and download I get a "this program has performed an illegal function" window and everything freezes up or shuts down. Now the odd thing is this only happens on my computer and two other customers. On everyone else's computer it prints fine. I've spent hours on the phone with Adobe and they don't have a clue. Could it be with Publisher? But whythen isn't the file unprintable on all computers?

I have not a clue on your problem. If it has been converted to .pdf though, it shouldn't be a Publisher problem. Do you and the other computers have Acrobat Reader installed?? Rob
Just my $.02.

Could this be possibly a memory problem? How big are the files and much RAM do you have installed? PDF files can take up a lot of space, particularly if you use a lot of graphics. I've noticed that if you scale a graphic down in Publisher and send it to Acrobat, it retains the ORIGINAL file size of the graphic. If you're using high-res stuff in the document it can get pretty huge very quickly.

algraff ::)

This is assuming that you have a pdf writer.

I have had problems sometimes when converting from publisher to pdf when using the distiller to do so. For some reason, it doesn't seem to "like" certain files. To go around this (and in all honesty, is a simpler route) I open the publisher file, hit >file >print >acrobat pdf writer (the scroll down bar beside the "name:" option/the type of printer you want to use). Then, simply print to the writer and it does the work of distiller for you.

hopefully helpful...

I create a large Publisher newsletter (10 to 15 pages) with tons of graphics every quarter. Just started a web page which needs the newsletter available on it. I use Adobe Acrobat to generate a PDF file for the web (I print from Publisher to a PDF file). The 1st time I did it, I just used the defaults and the file worked but it was huge. I messed around and discovered that if I used the Publisher option of low-res graphics that the resulting PDF file was many times smaller with no noticeable loss of graphic quality. This much smaller file takes a lot less memory to pull up and that might have something to do with your problem.

Hope it helps...
