Hi..

My bro's p.c!!!

He turned it on and the only sign of life was the ram led on the mo board.

Process of elimination...found that the agp + psu + 1 of the hard drives don't work!

I changed the psu...and connected 1 device at a time ,found that if I connect the power lead to the drive that don't seem to work the system don't boot at all...when I disconnect it it booted.

Is there any way to fix that drive.

I assume it was the psu that caused the 3 things to go....?(it was cheap but I didn't expect this!)

What do you guys think...?

Thanks

Hi there,

first off, check the jumpering and the BIOS settings... if they are correct then unfortunately you may be bum outta luck...

Ben

If it works don't fix it! If it doesn't use a sledgehammer...

Thats exactly why you should have expected it.
A branded PSU (Antec, Fortron, Enermax etc) wouldn't have caused this damage.
You have unfortunately learned a hard lesson and it would appear you have further damaged hardware if the drive is preventing boot.
Bad generic PSU's typically take out in order:
HDD's
CDroms of all kinds
Motherboards
Rarely ram or CPU's
