Can anybody help. I have a user which has built up a 600mb pst file. I have tried burning this on to a cd - but i can't re-import the pst file from the cd. The user is unable to import the pst file into his mailbox because of the size because it crashes the pc and so we can't even split up the pst file.

What can i do?

Have you tried right clicking on the file and change the Read-only box to unchecked? All files copied to a cd get set as read-only.

Molby is correct. Copy the file from the CD to the hard drive (this part hasn't been mentioned, so I'm just clarifying it) and deselect the Read Only checkbox from the properties.

Firstly, the two comments are 100% correct - you can't open read only pst files, so make sure these are not read only. You also can't open files that are not available exclusively to Outlook.

You may also want to try dumping the file onto a different pc and then opening the pst file from there and deleting all the crap. Outlook can handle pst files up to at least 1GB. You may also want to try compacting the file.

Actually, the limit of a PST is 2GB in all Outlook versions before 2K3, and over 20GB for OL2K3.
