I just joined this forum and wonder if there are any Quark for Windows users out there who might be able to help me. I'd much rather be on a MAC but I have to use a PC. So here's my problem. I use Quark 4.1 for Windows. My PC's operating system was just upgraded to XP and Quark was reinstalled. It appears to work fine in XP. However I noticed that my psfonts are now missing. I reinstalled them using Adobe Type Manager, and they appear in the system folder. In Quark however, they do not show up. In fact documents I created a week ago in Windows 98 now have a "Missing Fonts" box appear telling me that the document uses fonts not installed on my system. I know they are there, why doesn't Quark know? I sure would appreciate any help anyone can give me. Thanks!!

There is no need for ATM on windows 2000/XP for postscript fonts.Simply copy/install the fonts into the fonts directory (c:\windows\fonts) and QuarkXPress will pick those fonts.

Did that. Still doesn't work. Only a few Type 1 fonts are available, but not all the ones installed in the fonts directory. They are there, I swear, but for some reason are not showing up anywhere. I even tried to reinstall the fonts and kept getting error messages that the fonts were already installed. The fonts show up in Illustrator and Photoshop, but not Quark. The only thing I can attribute it to is XP. Quark just isn't acting right. There are other minor problems that I have encountered. I think I am going to uninstall Quark and reinstall it. Does anyone have any words of wisdom for me. I have begged and pleaded for my techs to please let me go back to Windows 98, but have been given an emphatic "NO." HELP!!!

Relax . . .
Windows XP (& Win 2000) DOES require ATM Light to use/print Multiple Master postscript fonts. And it makes sense to allow ATM to be present for general usage of ANY Postscript font.
A directory will be installed on your machine (default is c:\psfonts). Aliases (shortcuts) will appear in the C:\...\Fonts directory.
Get your IT gang to ensure that both Quark & your Postscript fonts are on YOUR machine, not the network . . .
