Hi,

When I Prune my database what data is actually deleted ? and does this have any effect on when I restore. For example, if I prune the database can I still do a file level backup and or search for a file within the tapes.

Kind Regards,

Craig

Pruning database remove sessions & jobs records
session info includes volumes, machines, files & fodlers backup job.
yes it does effects the the restore ,since you won't be able to restore files which are backed up before your last pruning period unless you merge the tape/session to arcserve database.

to merge the tape/session to arcserve dataabse go to manger/utilites/merge.

But it only prunes outdated information.
What is outdated, check your server admin, database tab, configuration... here can you define in days what is outdated.
