I was in an internet cafe that had a proxy server. I could browse to the homepage of our Secure Gateway site and login. When I went to launch an application using the java client or local client I could not because of the proxy in the cafe I got an error message. Is there any way around this. I tried using the internet explorer proxy setting this did not work. I cannot remember the error message and the info is vague but the error message was in relation to proxy authentication. Any help be grateful

Presumably this is because the internet cafe has closed off every port except the ones it needs to allow users to browse the web - and possibly use Messaging. You could ask the owners to open up a suitable port for your VPN - but I doubt they'd even understand in most cases, let alone consider it.
