Hi

We have MS SBS 2k3 installed on the network and Windows XP desktops.

Every time one of our clients tries to use the internet he gets prompted for a username and password. He enters his details that he uses to access the LAN and gets through.

We have ISA 2000 I think (can't remember the version that comes with SBS2k3).

Thanks in advance

Open ISA MMC
Right click the ISA server under "Servers and Arrays" and choose properties.
Go to the "Outgoing Web Requests" tab and uncheck the "Ask unauthenticated users for identification" check box.
This will allow you to use your rules if you want to ask for auth or not.

I have checked this now and it is set to ask unauthenticated users for details.

this is strange because I am sure he is on the network with his AD username and password.

This may coincide with the fact that when we get 'change your password' reminders up they sometimes don't appear.

It's almost as though we sometimes aren't authenticating properly.

There is just too many variables to tell you exactly.\. If you had that box unchecked to begin with then the problem lies in your rules.
