Protocol Error in logging in or retrieving messages

I am having problems sending and retrieving email from an external source when I am logged in remotely via Terminal Services. I receive the following error in Goldmine:

"A protocol ERROR occurred in logging in or retrieving messages
55 login authentication failed".

However, when I am in the office, I am able to send and retrieve all external email messages without any problems. I am puzzled by this because external email on Terminal Services seemed to stop working just about a month ago.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

My first guess would be that the term server's IP address isn't one that is allowed to authenticate with your exchange server.
