Hi everyone.

Pls can any one guide me how to protect IPO from Lightning effect.

we keep on getting problem with IPO when lightning occured.

When need to replace the system regularly -

customer is very upset about this

Do you have the system sitting behind a UPS.

I am based in the UK and have 100+ IP office systems installed.

All are supplied with a UPS as standard and we have no problems.

Highly suggest a UPS, and also make sure the control unit and each expansion unit is properly grounded!!!

One wrinkle with IP Office is protecting analog extensions, the IPO uses a different voltage (81V I think) from that expected by many US barrier boxes, so only use the Avaya's own IP Office Barrier Boxes.

And check the ground too many people connect the wire but don't check if the ground is a true ground.

Whoa there!

ONLY use Avaya's barrier boxes?

What if the voltage of the box is rated at HIGHER than 81V? Like if you used an IROB or fuse for 235V clamping.

I have a similar situation and was going to implement a 66-block with a bunch of these fuses on it:

(Specifically the UP3B-235)

Dispensing quality rants and mishaps since 1999:
