Hello All,

We've run out of space on our SQL server and have decided to move the DBs off the server and onto a NAS device. I expressed some concerns with this idea but this is the solution that was decided on. Before I actually order the equipment, I'd like to get other opinions about it. I'm concerned with performance, primarily. We have a mainframe application that exports its entire inventory to the SQL server and several DTS packages come into play.

Any pros/cons and red flags you can share are appreciated.

Thanks!

I believe Microsoft does not support SQL Server on a NAS. I guess that would eb a bit of a CON, eh? Not sure where that note is on MS' website, but it should be there.

Sheez Louise!

Thanks very much for the info, everyone. You just saved me a big headache.

SQLBill: That's what I wanted to do. But this company is pretty cheap.

I priced out a system and they choked on their top ramen.

Technology is expensive. That's just the way it works. Have them buy more JBOD storage for the server.
