Server address 192.128.20.2
Router address 192.128.20.1

Server connects to internet fine with IE5.

Workstations (under ipconfig/all) show all the correct DHCP and DNS information including the default gateway 192.128.20.1 and yet won't connect using IE5 - the error message page comes up instantly.

The only difference I can find is the line

IP Routing Enabled NO (Workstation)
IP Routing Enabled YES (Server)

Is this the source of the problem or am I barking up the wrong tree?

What is the error or error number?
Do you have any proxy Settings in IE? A+, MCP, CCNA
marbinpr@hotmail.com

Keep fighting for your knowledge!

If the server has the DNS addresses of 2 Internet based DNS servers you need to make the DNS server of the clients 192.168.20.2.

If this still doesnt work, put the 2 internet based DNS IP addresses into all clients network properties. It's messy and not ideal but it will get them on the net until you sort out some proxy software or fix the problem.

Hope it helps.

Steve

THanks for the ideas.

I can ping the router on 192.128.20.1 from the workstation.
I can ping the server 192.128.20.2 from the workstation.

The DNS settings I have been given are 194.238.20.1 and 194.238.20.2. Set manually these allow internet access. I have proxy settings of isdncache.rmplc.co.uk port 8080 which always worked before.

HOWEVER, using these settings I lose the ability to connect the computer to the domain ITSUITE and cannot manage the computer from the server.
