We just dig out an old prologix. We are trying to get it to work, but when we do a list conf all, we get several slots with "no board" under vintage. There are no extensions associated to any of these ports. We have inserted a card and nothing happens. How do I get the system to see that there is a board on that slot?

Thanks

step 1: remove all cards (except for the tone/clock and processor in slots 1 and 2)

step 2: do a "change circuit", remove any cards still showing up. This will only work if your programming is not referecning any ports on these cards.

step 3: re-insert the cards, now do a "list config all" after a few minutes, you should now see the proper cards.

If the switch had cards inserted, and then you put a different card in the slot, and there was still some porgramming referenced this could happen, or you could also see "conflict"

one more thing: check to make sure your "TDM Buss Terminators" are installed on both ends of the cabinet (there should be 2, 1 at each end of the TDM Buss)

If your TDM BUS terminators aren't installed you will never get to a log in and the system will keep rebooting until it comes up "spe down mode". If you are logged in and do a list config but see nothing you may want to check the version compatbility by doing a "disp sys cus" this will tell you what version you have on the flashcard. Then do a "newterm" and this will tell you the software version of your processor. It the release version in the customer options table is higher than the processor you should be ok unless the processor is R10 and above which would require licensing. If the flashcard has a lower release than the processor than you need to change the release in the customer options but you will need to know how to get into the "init" login. Otherwise it won't work right for you and when you log in it should warn you about the incompatibility.

Removed all the cards and used the changed circuit command and everything looks good. Now, the only issue I am having is that it doesn't recognize the following cards – TN2214B Digital and the TN2793 Analog. This is a ProLogix version 8 and it has an A and B cabinet.

Thanks for all the help.

Do a "disp sys off" and check the offer. If it is offer "A" it will not see those boards. Those are only used for offer "B" which is used for hospitality.

yes, those cards are from an old BCS load, and are normally recognized by a ProLogic... If you can set the "location" to "2", in a newer switch that would work.

I'm not sure that would work on a R8, and, you probably have no way to get that changed, since this sounds like an old switch, you probably don't have a current sold to, and dialup to get AVAYA to try and change it... plus at this point, I'm not sure they even would bother.

correct: those cards are NOT normally recognized by a ProLogic.

At this point, you won't be able to do anything about that. This was because the older BCS/Hospitality load used those cards, and they didn't want them working in the higher end (ProLogic) platform.

Like I said, in an S-Series switch, if you set the "location" field to "2", they are recognized. save them for when you have an S-Series switch...

I have offer A. Well, we just need to get the 2224 cards.

Thanks for all your help.
