I have posted many times on here regarding the problem of a job hanging..i.e. label media/erase/backup/inventory = Status 'Running'.
However nobody has ever come back with an answer......hopefully this time they will, as the problem has not been corrected with new tapes. i rebooted server place brand new tape into the drive. Retired old media.....and attempted to label the media.......after about 9 minutes it is still attempting to label it.
It shows the job as running, however obviously something is wrong as understood by the crunching sounds I can hear occasionally. Have heard these before and it worked fine though. It seems to kick in the drive after 30 seconds, and then crunch once (sort of like a reseating of the tape), and then go for another 30 seconds, and crunch 5-6 times in succession (with a 1 second gap exactly between them). It then partially ejects itself and reinserts itself and attempts to continue the job.
Any ideas?
