I have a fairly simple app I wrote. It generates HTML emails from a database. If I compile and run everything works great, but if I schedule it to run using MSTask it opens and just hangs. Has anyone seen this or is there a way I can do more testing?

Hi,

When you set schedule task you have to provide
user name and password, the ones you use to log
on to you computer. Do not log off.

I hope this helps.

I have run into this problem as well. Apparently, if you use the AT command from the command line, it will run like it's supposed to. I have not tested this (I am doing so today, which will show me tomorrow), but it is supposed to work.

If anyone has any ideas on how to get the NEW scheduled tasks to work, that would be great (using AT is ok, but you have more features for MSTask/Task Scheduler).

I picked up a new computer which had Win XP installed. This fixed the problem for me. I was using Win2K when I had a problem.

A suggestive alternative, althought, a little too late.

I was going to suggest to create a batch file to run your app., and have TaskMgr call the bat file.

Obviously a bit too late... but information is always "current." Running a batch would not necessarily fix the problem. I'll have to test that out and post an update.

So, if you don't use a password to logon to the machine...then you can't run a scheduled task?
