I know this is Monday morning, but...

Upgraded Office XP Friday to SP3. Other than a cursory check, everything seemed fine. Come in this morning to go through my email. Each time I try to reply or forward an email, I get a splash screen telling me that a program is trying to access my addresses and what do I want to do about it (paraphrasing). Thinking I have a virus, I check signatures and scan for a virus. Nothing. Suspicious now that SP3 hosed up my Outlook, using Task Manager I notice that the alert comes up after winword loads (Word is my editor for Outlook). So, I reconfigure Outlook to not use Word as my editor and no more splash screens about virulent programs accessing my addresses. Just for kicks, I reconfigure back to using Word as my editor - no splash screens still. Is it possible that the reconfiguring "fixed" Outlook?

Oh well, just wanted to put this out to see if anyone else has experienced this. Like I said, it is Monday...

Howdy,

Completely different problem bur still a problem with Outlook following Office XP SP3 install. Having done the upgrade, I attempted to open Outlook. Got the splash screen and it stayed there so, Ctrl-Alt-Del out of Outlook and tried again, same again. Reboot computer, relaunch Outlook, same problem. In the end, I loaded Outlook in it's Safe Mode which opened fine and, since then, I have had no problems loading as normal.

Is this just coincidence or have Micro$oft stuffed something up in SP3 with regards to upgrading Outlook ??

Well, this doesn't look good. Outlook is back to giving me the warning about programs access the addreses again (like before). However, unlike yesterday, I can't get the warning to go away except by de-selecting Word as the editor.

TSSTechie, I'm beginning to think something is fishy about SP3 and Outlook. Other posts have complained about various problems. I guess I'll re-install. Thanks, MS, I appreciate the update.
