We have 2 servers in a school network + a proxy server that does not really have anything to do with this issue...they were nt4 the PDC was upgraded to win2k and the bdc was wiped and had a fresh install put on it...When everything was an nt 4 domain roaming profiles worked great....now that the servers are win2k profiles are not working....all clients are nt4...the profile path in AD is \\servername\profiles$\username
this is manually typed in for each user... and a default/template folder is manually created in the profiles$ directory. I can log on to the nt workstation and configure outlook and then log off...i log on as the admin right click on the my computer icon then user profiles and it shows the users profile as a roaming profile but if i log onto another pc or delete the profile from the user profiles tab and log back on none of the settings were kept....ANY ideas would be appreciated....THANKS

it seems like the users can read their profiles but changes are not being saved back to the server

what are the permission settings on the share and directory of the user profiles? When you log OUT , are there any error messages?

Actually, i think i figured it out....the SYSTEM account needs access to those folders as well as the other permissions i had on there that were restored from tape backup.
