Hi,
When we first installed our exchange 5.5 server we found it was pretty much wide open and every spam sender on the planet was using us to relay for them. I was able to shut this down and fix it and I got removed from several blackhole lists but I have one I can not get removed from. They require the ability to send an email to a special address that I can not get my system to accept. Here is what they say:
Please choose an email address to send the removal confirmation to (if none of these addresses are acceptable, please READ THE ENTIRE PAGE before emailing DSBL):
postmaster@[1.2.3.4]
abuse@[1.2.3.4]
postmaster@c1-1a005.neo.rr.com
postmaster@neo.rr.com
postmaster@rr.com
abuse@c1-1a005.neo.rr.com
abuse@neo.rr.com
abuse@rr.com
I have added the postmaster@mydomain adress to my mailbox but I think they send literally to the @[1.2.3.4] and they say something about me having an RFC compliant postmaster address, see below:
RFC 822, Section 3.4.6 (Bracketing Characters):
Square brackets ("[" and "]"
are used to indicate the presence of a domain-literal, which the appropriate name-domain is to use directly, bypassing normal name-resolution mechanisms.
RFC 822, Section 6.2.3 (Domain Terms):
Domain-literals which refer to domains within the ARPA Internet specify 32-bit Internet addresses, in four 8-bit fields noted in decimal, as described in Request for Comments #820, "Assigned Numbers." For example: [10.0.3.19]
Does this mean they send to postmaster@mydomain ??? If I ask them to test and I dont get the email I have to wait a week before I am allowed to ask them again. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
Thanks
