Are there problems with sp3? Or do I need to do something besides the install? I chose the setting to allow uninstalling sp3, and have a copy on disk of the old metabase.bin, but wanted to get advice before uninstalling sp3 and/or replacing the metabase.bin file.

Here's are 2 of many error messages from the event viewer after reboot:

The Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP) service depends on the IIS Admin Service service which failed to start because of the following error:
The dependency service or group failed to start.

The World Wide Web Publishing Service service depends on the IIS Admin Service service which failed to start because of the following error:
The dependency service or group failed to start.

I set recovery for both of these service to restart after 1 minute after first failure.

Then I rebooted and Component Services shows IIS Admin Service started, but SMTP and World Wide Web Publishing Service "starting" (after many minutes). Event viewer reports them hung.

Thanks

Hi zoeythecat,

Yes, plenty now after reinstalling W2K and sp3 a couple of times. After three times I decided to go with sp2 instead. But that install hung as well, but at least IIS works now. My biggest problem now is that MS Office won't work, install or uninstall. So I'm just waiting for a good time to format I guess... :(

These are the errors in the log I got first though:

"The World Wide Web Publishing Service service hung on starting."

"The Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP) service hung on starting."

"The FTP Publishing Service service hung on starting."

I am also receiving the same error shown above within the EVent Viewer. Both the World Wide Web Publishing Service and SMTP service hang on starting. Any resolution to this matter?
