Hi,
There is a problem when I try to configure a Cisco 761 router using the Cisco Fast Step software.
The router has IOS c760-in.rxd.NET3 4.4(4)
The PC has the following configuration , with a given ip address, netmask and gateway.

C:\WINDOWS>ipconfig
Windows 98 IP Configuration
0 Ethernet adapter :

IP Address. . . . . . . . . : 0.0.0.0
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . : 0.0.0.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . : 192.168.0.2

1 Ethernet adapter :

IP Address. . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.20
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . : 192.168.0.2

All steps in the software are OK except at the point where I have to enter the LAN ip address. It does not accept the address 192.168.0.2 or any address beginning with 192.168.0.* and it gives the following error comment :

LAN IP Address Incompatible
The LAN IP Address is not compatible with the PC IP address 192.168.1.10 (address are different subnet mask). Please enter an IP address that is compatible with the subnet mask.

Verify that the LAN IP address is correct
Note: In most cases the first two ot three numbers of the LAN IP address and the PC IP address should be the same.

I try upgrading and rebooting the PC and router but no effect.

Of course a TELNET to the router and manually configuring the ip address will solve the problem.

But I was wondering why the router cannot see the correct address of the PC.
Anybody any ideas?
