Hi everyone,
Inserting the ActiveX 'Microsoft common dialog control 6.0' gives the error: "you don't have the license required to use this ActiveX control". The reference is set correctly - I think - in VBA/Tools/References

I've read different articles on the subject but I can get it solved... Suggestions?

The link to TheAccessWeb using APIs to call the standard file open/save dialogs in TheAceMan1's second link ( is often recommended. It comes with the advantage of working on all versions without any reference hassle.

tnx for the replies,
I used the API (Call the standard Windows File Open/Save dialog box) before with success. This time i just tried to use the ActiveX Control merely to see how it works...

But I see that if you really don't have to use this ActiveX, you better leave it out of your application. And since I do not use the VB 5.0 or 6.0, I cant the VB5cli.exe file. Conclusion: the 'ActiveX Microsoft common dialog control 6.0' for Access 2003 is out of reach?
