when i open my computer on my windows 98se computer it trys to open a program instead of opening the contents of my computer. If i right click the c:drive and select explore it will open to my computers c:drives content. I am not sure how to correct this or even how it happened. Thanks for help in advance.

Try this to get it to do something usable. Let us know if there is something already in there, and if this doesn't work for you.

But the reason for this behavior, maybe spy-ware,mal-ware or something similar.

Run the Registry Editor (REGEDIT.EXE). Be Careful !!!
Open HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\.

Select Find from the Edit menu, and search for My Computer. If you can't find it, open the key labeled {20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}.

Right-click on Shell, select New and then Key. Type Open and press Enter.

Right-click on Open, select New and then Key. Type Command and press Enter.

Click on Command, double-click on (default), type explorer.exe in the box, and press Enter.
Close the Registry Editor.

Click on the desktop, and press F5 to refresh the desktop so that this change will take effect.
