I've got a couple of problems that I was hoping you guys could give me a hand with. As part of a downsizing, I have just moved a client's network and MICS v4.1 to a smaller office location and have bumped into a couple of problems which may be simple for those of you that do Norstar daily:

1) I have AA set up and all extensions have CFNA working properly to their VM boxes except for one holdout which rings back to the AA instead of the VM. This extension does go to VM if forwarded.

2) Customer has 10 CO's, each of which has a single appearance on a single phone. How can I get these to forward to the appropriate VM box if the CO is busy.

Thanks for any help you can offer...
Dave

1. The CFNA make sure is set to the voicemail DN and is set to 4 rings (typical)

2. You Can not. Standard pots lines are busy if they are on the line, just like at your house. Even if you have call waiting on the lines it will not go into voicemail.

Each phone has a single door going into the voicemail. when that door is closed calls have no way of getting in. Thats why PRI with DID's is the way to go.

I certainly agree with kgrant. Additionally, you have to consider how you want your calls handled. If user "Bob" is called on his private number, and his number is busy, do you want the next caller to get a busy signal? If so, make sure with your provider that the lines don't hunt. If they do, then Bob's next caller will ring to "Steve".

A POTS line is only a single path to the phone system. The next inbound call to that line will not ring on that line.

1) CFNA is set to voicemail DN and 4 rings, any other thoughts?

2) thanks for confirmation, client dropped his PRI for POTS lines and gave me a lambasting in front of his staff for not getting his system to work like it did before (programmable ONN, inbound CLID without CI trunk cards, multiple inbound and outbound call paths). I feel much better about walking into the clients office and having a SERIOUS conversation with him on Monday.

Thanks again guys!!!

Dave

CFNA will only work if the call hits the system. If it doesn't, there isn't anything you can do with it.

1) is his rings set as low as the others for CFNA? The reason I ask is because maybe the Transfer Call Back is set lower than the CFNA.

2) I agree with the others not going to happen if the line is busy then it's busy.

you can have the phone company set fwd on busy to their main number as a way to keep from sending the callers to a busy signal. Our office does this and it works fine, the majority of calls are handled by the lineholders phone and those few that would have gotten a buty are sent to the main reception by way of telco forwarding.
