I have installed a PC Chips M810D mobo( everything onboard)

Whilst trying to load the VGA,Audio , Modem drivers from the CD I keep getting a window up
Choose windows OS Path?
the message is
`Please choose the Windows OS correct path or direct the path by yourself.'(There is a browse option)

I am not sure what it is asking for here? can someone tell me what I need to type here please.
I have now re-formatted 3 times and reloaded Win 98se and it keeps going pearshaped

are you getting these messages as the computer boots up and detecting the hardware? Chances are that it is looking for the driver files where as on your disk the setup files exist. What I would do is..Boot the computer to the desktop
Insert the the driver cdrom ( Motherboard ) It should start its own setup program from there install the drivers
Upon the next reboot the system should find the files

Hopefully it works

Thanks for the response azpctech01
Yes you are quite right. The hardware wizard is trying to find the drivers on boot up.
Problem is itcan't seem to find some of them on the mobo install disk.
If I cancel the wizard and boot to desktop then use the setup on the disk it will load the agp drivers but nothing else. It gets stuck asking for the path to windows OS
Everything I type in is rejected as `incorrect path'
I have never had any other install disc ask this.

I have managed to browse the disk and install the modem and sound drivers succesfully.
The main problem I have now is the wizard can't find the USB universal serial Bus drivers.
They should be on the install disk but the wizard is not finding them They seemto be there in the USB drivers section but they do not run and do not contain a inf file

do you by any chance have the cabinet files installed..I've had to under the windows directory made a folder called options
then a subdirectory call cabs. Then from the windows98 cdrom I've located the cab files and pasted into the cabs folder.
maybe it wont ask for the path.

Thanks I'll give this a try and let you know if it cures the problem. I don't know where else I can get these USB drivers from if not offthe install disk

When the installer is asking for the path to your OS

It is asking you for the path to your windows directory. Just enter c:\windows

I have no ideal why it can not find this on its own but
every driver on that disk needs you to enter this.

Unless you can't spare the space, it's always a good idea to copy all the .CAB files from the Windows install CD onto your disk somewhere. Seemingly minor control panel tweaks (esp. in the Network panel) will demand to get files from the CD. With the CABs on-line you can just click "OK" on the "insert the disk ..." box and Browse to the directory where your CABs are when it can't find the needed file.

And in this case, when it wants the CD while you're working off the PCCHIPS driver installation CD, it's either this way or you'd better have dual CD drives.
