I'm putting a new hard drive in a notebook and the OS is win 2k.
I tried to join the NT domain and I'm getting a weird message, one I've never got before.

I don't think anything strange is going on with the network. This is so weird......

I know the connection to the network is good too. I've tried putting a lmhosts file on the pc too.

It's telling me a dns lookup problem / the domain cannot be reached...????

Any help is appreciated! Thanks everyone.

Did you go to a command prompt and run IPCONFIG? Is the NIC pulling an IP number (other then Microsoft's local lan numbers and assuming you are using DHCP)?

If it is, can you ping your DHCP Server and/or Primary Domain Controller? If it is not, have you renewed the IP number (IPCONFIG /renew) or checked the DHCP scope range to see if you have run out of IP numbers?

If you are running Static, double check your TCP/IP settings.

Post back and let us know what you find...

Sounds like you're DNS settings.
go to your DNS settings and only check:
append primary and connection... and
register this connection address...

I restarted the dhcp service on the server and it worked fine????
