Problems installing service pack 1 2

I get an error about half way through installing service pack 1. The error is "An error in updating your system has occurred. Select OK to undo the changes". After undoing the changes I get "Service pack 1 installation did not complete. Windows server 2003 has been partially updated and may not work properly." In the event viewer I get Event ID 4160 "Invalid command line arguments". Other than that everything seems to be working fine.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm running dual Xeon 2.6GHz 1 gig RAM and an 18 gig SCSI HD. This server is a doamin controller (I have 2) running WINS, DNS.... Server number 1 upgraded with this same service pack just fine, so I'm sure the file ok.

What make is the server i've seen similar on some Dell boxes.

I put it together. The motherboard is a Supermicro server with adaptec 320w SCSI with Kingston memory.

What if you try to use Add or Remove Programs to uninstall the SP does it appear in the Add or Remove Programs list?

SP1 cannot be uninstalled. Have you run all prior updates? Have they all completed succesfully?

No it doesn't show up in add/remove. This has me baffled. I haven't been able to find anything on google either. I'm contiplating just wiping it and stating fresh.

Have you rebooted and tried again?

There should be a Svcpack.log in systemroot have a look for that it should list any errors.

I'm installing the prior updates now (this is a new system). The thing is when I turned on automatic updates the next day SP1 was waiting for me so that's why I tried to install it. When I went to windows update I selected all the high priority updates. We shall see what happens.
