I've been having problems with this one machine's C drive. I ran scandisk and an error message pops up saying that scandisk cannot continue. So I try to format the c:drive. When I try to format the C: drive it keeps coming up with insufficient memory and doesn't continue. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

...and how are you trying to format? Did you use a boot disk and booted into DOS?

Have you tried to FDISK?

I am using windows 95 and I am using a boot disk and booting into DOS. That is where I am getting the insufficient memory reading.

i would try fdisk and remove all partition information... then recreate the partitions... reboot and try formatting again... Shane

I had the same problem the other day, my computer wouldn`t recognise my hard drive i couldn`t format it, or scandisk it. You need to type fdisk /mbr which will reinstall the master boot record on the hard drive enabling you to format the drive hope this helps!!!! Alx
