In a network with
2 win98, 2 xp, 3 win2000 and 1 advanced server 2000 I encounter several problems.

A while after a XP machine is logged in at the domain It is not trusted any more by win2000 clients. It asks for username and passwd but will except any.

The win98 machines fail to see some shares with long names (18 chars)

The win98 machines have very slow access to the win2000 machines. (net use lpt3 \\pc03\logoprinter)

Please Help,

Regards Gregor

there is just 1 server.

Also,
A 2000 client take 15 seconds to log in into the domain.
The newer and faster XP machines more then a minute.
The old 98 machines also take 15 seconds to log in.

XP???

the login times may be caused by users profiles, if you have set up roaming profiles, users may be saing documents in them, EVERYTHING in the users directory is downloaded at login, this man be causeing it, win 95/98 doesnt support roaming profiles (well it does but you would know about it if you had set them up) but by defalt it ignores them.

I did not set up roaming profiles.
Is it a default setting?
