All -
I have just put up an instance of Fedora Core 5 and now find that it will not let me log in from the login screen as root. I can log in as "joe user" and su my way to root, and I can ssh my way in as root directly, but not from the console of the very machine. Now I can imagine remote access as root could carry some hazards, but the console??? Is this by design, or did I hose something up? I made the overture at install time to disable SELinux. Whether it REALLY did or not I am not so sure. I have looked and looked and looked and I cannot find a way to get around this. Any advice? Or do I just not know where to look?
Thanks,
Orbur
