Norton AV says to go to run command and use it to have system cofig util set to safe mode, then run AV. Did all that. While in safe mode i went to use the run command and it wasnt on the start menu like it was in standard mode.
I went to task mgr and used the run command from there to set win xp to boot normally instead of safe mode and all is well. I'm just wondering what happened. Is that normal for win xp pro? I did look for it, just wasnt there on the start menu.
thanks

I just tested on one of my XP SP2 workstations. Booted and used the Boot Option menu to select Safe Mode.

Run is there and works.

On a related note, I was quite impressed by this posting I read this week about Norton AV and NIS issues under XP SP2 and how to resolve them.

I mention it here so there is a linkable resource for all to this discussion. The problems with NAV 2003-2005 and NIS 2004-2005 are filling the web forums and newsgroups. This approach allows you in the end to use both and is worth a reference on Tek-Tips. So, without further ado, here it is:

Ya gotta be able to laugh at yourself sometimes, that way you can really enjoy it when the laugh is on someone else!

thanks
