problem with pioneer DVD 106S

sorted out my motherboard problem, system up and running with cdwriter, hard disk, floppy etc.
Have DVD installed with it as secondary master with the rewriter as secondary slave.
O.S. Win98 supposed to recognise DVD but has only done so in listing it as DVD under system/cd controllers

Anyone know why Win98 has failed to let me use it as DVD works perfect as cd player???

Any help greatly appreciated.

I've got that same drive, and it seems to have problems when running at ata/33. When I've got an ata/66 cable attached, the drive works better.
