Problem with .PDFs as attachement - can' open as .PDF

Hi,

I have a very interesting problem. Running Win XP pro, Outlook 2003. Adobe Reader 7.0 is installed. Someone send me a .pdf as attachement and instead of opening .pdf document, the system opens up a Word Document with some garbled characters. I forwarded this email with .pdf attachement to another PC and it worked fine.
Anyone seen this problem before?

Save the document to your desktop, then right click on it and go to properties.

You'll see a "Opens With: Microsoft Word" thing. Hit the Change button, and make it open with Adobe Reader 7.

Then hit OK and the next time you close your email and open it back up it'll default to open with Adobe instead of Word.
 
Have you looked in Windows Explorer: Tools -> FolderOptions -> File Types and checked the "Details for 'PDF' extension"?
 
These examples had a corrupt Adobe program that was fixed by re-installing it.

Thanks for the tip about File Types. Corrected the file type and it worked.
