Problem with Outlook reminder pop-ups 1

Win98, Outlook 2000.

Problem with calendar pop-up reminders. This has worked fine for a long time. Now, the reminders do not pop up when they should. They pop up when you start Outlook, but not while Outlook is running. Even reminders that were dismissed in a previous Outlook session still pop up back to last Monday 12-8.

We think this may be related to installation of Yahoo's free pop-up killer. We think this was intalled on Monday. It was uninstalled yesterday, but this problem persists.

Any ideas?

I have a similar problem. Did you find an answer?

Thanks

Simon

Yes, we did find an answer. The only problem is my memory is fuzzy about what we did. I think we ended up reinstalling Outlook. If you try this, make sure that your outlook.pst file is copied somewhere safe. I don't know if Outlook overwrites the .pst file on a reinstall, but I wouldn't take any chances.

If you need more info about working with the .pst file, let me know. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. After a bit more searching I found that there is a bug in Office 2000 Service Pack 3. I downloaded a patch from Microsoft and all is well. Sorry I don't have the info on the exact patch at the moment. I'll post it later.

Thanks again!!

Got any info on that patch buddy? I have the same problem......

Sioxley,

Many Thanks for your quick reply. Funnily enough after looking at the machine yesterday and not understanding why it was not working as everything was set for it to work. I have spoken to the user again today and they have told me that after I had finished looking at the machine yesterday and went away, all of a suddern about 50 reminders popped up that the user had set in the past! and now they are working again, all very strange! So, thanks for the link anyway but don't look like I will be needing it!?

Cheers

Adam.

No problems Adam

That does sound weird. Still might be worth applying that patch as it fixed a couple of problems for me. Firstly the calander pop ups and secondly, on some of these machines, if you looked in Task Manager then Processes, Outlook.exe was running at about 90% CPU usage. This in turn affected the performance of the whole PC.

These problems only started to occur when I upgraded Office 2000 to Service Pack 3 so if you're not on SP3 it may be something else altogether.

Cheers

Simon

Simon,

Yes, the patch would be worth applying anyhow. Also, Yes the machines are on SP3 and have been for some time, haven't seen any trouble with PC's slowing or CPU useage, but will keep an eye out.

Cheers again.

Adam.
